What is Limb Loss Awareness Month? Why It’s Important
Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month (LLAM) is recognized every April to honor, support, and raise awareness for the millions of people living with limb loss or limb difference. With over 2.7 million Americans affected and more than 500 amputations performed each day, LLAM sheds light on the challenges amputees face and the importance of access, inclusion, and empowerment. This month offers the chance to elevate voices, educate communities, and advocate for better prosthetic access, mental health support, and accessibility. It's a powerful reminder that while the journey of limb loss is deeply personal, no one should walk it alone.
